People are asking

What makes The Ultra Violet Pad™ different than other purple wool pads?

The elephant in the room in that there are hundreds, if not thousands of (what appear to be) identical polishing pads on the market and just like many other products, there are "clones" or "knock-offs." On the surface, they appear to be the same as brand name products, and claim to perform just as well – but often lack the same high purity raw materials, regulatory compliance and quality control that name brands stand behind. All of our pads are manufactured in the U.S.A. and made to the highest standards and specifications. When our customers use our Ultra Violet Pad™ they can trust that the results will be consistently best-in-class.

How many pads do I need for my boat?

We recommend one (1) Ultra Violet Pad for every 15 linear feet of gelcoat. For example, if you own a 20' boat, 20' port side + 20' starboard side = 40 liner feet of surface area, which means for the best performance, end results and to limit over-saturation of the pads you should have 3 pads to work with.

How should I care for and maintain these pads to ensure longevity?

After use, clean your pads with warm water and pH neutral soap like SKWOL® pH Neutral Boat Soap and a soft bristle brush or towel to remove polish/compound residues. Dry them thoroughly before storing to avoid mildew or foam degradation. Store them flat or “face down” on surfaces that won’t deform the foam.

What buffer/polisher compatibility do these pads support?

The Launch Pad™ is compatible with random orbital (Dual Action or DA) polishers, as well as “Forced DA” polishers.

What design features help prevent damage to paint during polishing?

The Ultra Violet™ wool pad features a reinforced foam interface engineered to endure the rigors of professional marine detailing. When used with SKWOL® Oxidation Remover One Step Compound, it effectively refines surfaces, eliminating fine imperfections and leaving behind a deep, high-gloss finish in a single pass. Its dense wool fibers are designed to resist caking and matting, ensuring consistent results throughout the job. Flexible by nature, the pad adapts seamlessly to curves and contours, making it equally effective on gelcoat surfaces and painted finishes.
