Fix fading fast

Paired with SKWOL® One Step Oxidation Remover, The Launch Pad™ removes fading while polishing your gelcoat to a high-gloss finish while keeping surface temperatures stable, channeling away spent material, and maintaining consistent contact for uniform results.

People are asking

What makes The Launch Pad™ different than other blue pads?

The Launch Pad™ offers a unique balance of cutting power and versatility that nearly no other blue pads can. While it delivers aggressive removal of defects (2500 grit sanding scratches, oxidation, etc.), it maintains enough finishing ability to be used for single-step correction on many harder gelcoats, thus reducing the need to switch pads as often. Additionally, The Launch Pad™ was developed intentionally with a thinner profile and lower mass than some “heavy duty” dual-layer or sandwich pads, meaning it’s less likely to stall lower-powered Dual Action polishers used by DIYers, running cooler and providing better overall control. Unlike budget or generic blue pads, The Launch Pad™ is made here in the U.S.A and is engineered to give dependable performance without overheating, excessive flex, or early foam breakdown.

What buffer/polisher compatibility do these pads support?

The Launch Pad™ is compatible with random orbital (Dual Action or DA) polishers, as well as “Forced DA” polishers. They require a center-ventilated backing plate to ensure the cooling chamber works properly.

What design features help prevent damage to paint during polishing?

The Launch Pad™ is designed a reinforced central ventilated cooling chamber that dissipates heat from the foam’s center, reducing surface temperature during polishing. This helps avoid heat-damage to the paint. It also features tapered edges, which help prevent “pad rolling” (where the pad edge lifts) when working on curved or contoured surfaces, enabling better control and less risk of burning or gouging eith the backing plate of your polisher.

How many pads do I need for my boat?

Best practices suggest one (1) pad for every 10 linear feet of gelcoat. For example, if you own a 20' boat, 20' port side + 20' starboard side = 40 liner feet of surface area, which means for the best performance, end results and to limit over-saturation of the pads you should have 4 pads to work with.

How should I care for and maintain these pads to ensure longevity?

After use, clean your pads with warm water and pH neutral soap like SKWOL® pH Neutral Boat Soap and a soft bristle brush or towel to remove polish/compound residues. Dry them thoroughly before storing to avoid mildew or foam degradation. Store them flat or “face down” on surfaces that won’t deform the foam.
