Ingredients
Poly Amino Functional Siloxane, Hydroxy-Terminated
EPA Safer Chemical
Ingredient Rating: *See Note
Concentration: 0.68% to 1.8%
Purpose: Helps to provide a durable, protective, hydrophobic (water-repellent) coating that shields boats from corrosion, UV damage, and grime, ensuring longer-lasting protection.
Science: What chemists know when it comes to environmental safety is that while some chemicals may seem harmful on their own, in a formulated product like a ceramic sealant, these compounds are carefully blended into controlled amounts. In the case of Poly Amino Functional Siloxane, when cured (fully reacted), it forms an inert, stable layer. This layer does not dissolve into the water and remains solid, which minimizes any direct interaction with aquatic environments. Once applied and cured on surfaces like boats, the chemical becomes non-reactive and non-leaching, meaning it won't break down or release harmful substances into the water, meaning it has virtually no affect aquatic life. When properly used and rinsed, it is safe for both the environment and marine wildlife.
Styrene Copolymer Emulsion
(Non-hazardous)
Concentration: 0.7% - 1.4%
Purpose: Film-forming, adhesive, and water-resistance. Creates a durable and protective film. Enhances adhesion to different surfaces. Improves water resistance. Adds flexibility and durability to surfaces, which is essential for coatings that need to withstand environmental stress, like temperature changes and water exposure.
Science: Low-VOC, and eco-friendly design. Less hazardous to both human health and the environment compared to solvent-based alternatives. Non-toxic and safe for aquatic environments. Won’t leach harmful chemicals into the water or soil. Biodegradable. Breaks down easily in the environment.
